Montfort Rugby Lions vs Jurong (B Div)

The Montfort Rugby Lions had a tough match when they took on Jurong Secondary on 23rd Feb at CCAB.

The Lions lost 19-22 to a well-drilled Jurong team.

Our Lions simply did not perform to their potential but we will bounce back.

The coaching panel and teachers will not dwell on the loss but will look to the future.

But do remember something from the former head coach of the Brisbane Broncos:
"Don't Die With The Music In You".

Play to your potential boys and don't look back and regret. Just move on and be the best that you can be in the 2nd Round which kicks off on 10th March.

Tues (24/2):Sec 1 and 2 Training in School (Euan, Kim Hwee, Pan Chao and Mr Singh)
Sec 3 and Sec 4 B Div Debrief in School (Euan, Song You, Feng Hua and Mr Singh)

Thurs (26/2):Sec 1 and 2 Training in School (Kim Hwee, Pan Chao and Miss Jennifer)
B Div Match vs ACSI at ACSI (Euan, Song You, Feng Hua, Mr Yong and Miss Rashidah)

Fri (27/2): Video Session for Sec 1-4

Mr Singh will be away for Reservist 26/2-3/3 as part of my national duty.

Montfort Rugby Lions vs Pierce (B Div)

Montfort Rugby Lions put up a valiant fight in their second match of the 2009 B Div season against Pierce Secondary School at CCAB on Thursday 12th February.

It was a tight and tense encounter between the two teams. It was a battle of attrition in the forwards as both sets of packs smashed each other relentlessly for the first fifteen minutes of the game.

Montfort Lions, led by captain Muhd Firdaus, were stunned midway through in the first half by a Pierce try which was duly converted by our opponents.

But our Lions did not give up and managed to reduce the deficit before half-time with a try from Terence Liaw of Sec 4E1. The conversion was missed as both teams went into the first half break Montfort 5 Pierce 7.

In the second half, it was a grinding performance by both teams which saw Pierce score a try that was unconverted.

But our Lions did not give up and kept a relentless attack on Pierce. But time ran out when referee Douglas Danapal blew the final whistle.

The Lions had given their all in a close tense encounter. Congratulations to Pierce and their Coach Jamal. They deserved their win.

Final Score: Montfort Rugby Lions 5 Pierce 12. Montfort Rugby Lions Man-of-the-Match Lyon Ee (Forwards) and Muhd Nabil (Backs).

Montfort Rugby Lions vs Admiralty (B Div)

Our Montfort Rugby Lions beat Admiralty Sec 22-10 in a hard-fought match at CCAB on Thursday (5th Feb).

The match was Montfort Rugby Lions first match in the 2009 B Division Rugby Season.

The win was secured by tries from Captain Muhd Firdaus (2), Muhd Nabil (1) and Gerald Cheong (1).

One of the tries was converted by winger P Aravind.

The Montfort Rugby Lions, jointly coached by Euan Morrison, Low Feng Hua and Ng Song You, played a hard but fair match that was officiated by South African referee Marius Franken.

Man-of-the-Match was Muhd Firdaus who led his team well from the front.
