Our C Division Montfort Rugby Lions were crowned the M1 Schools Rugby 10s Tournament Plate Champions at Saint Andrew's Secondary on Saturday afternoon.
We beat Pioneer Secondary Schol 7-0 in the Plate Final. The team was well-led by the captain Muhd Shamir of Sec 2AB.
Our C Div Boys were coached by Euan and Old Boys Pan Chao and Chua Kim Wee.
The route to the Final was an interesting one.
We started our day with 0-5 loss to ACS Barker in the group stages but we fought back convincingly with an emphatic 31-0 win over Regent Secondary School followed by a 10-0 win over Admiralty Secondary to complete the group stages with a 2 Win, 1 Loss Record.
In the Semi-Final, we met Greenridge Secondary School. After a tough grinding match, we beat Greenridge 10-5 to advance to the Plate Final where we met Pioneer Secondary School.
In a tense final, we beat Pioneer 7-0 to win the Plate.
Great work from all the C Div Players who have shown massive improvements since November 2008 under coaches Euan Morrison, Pan Chao (Old Boy) and Chua Kim Wee (Old Boy).
Miss Jennifer was a great help during the tournament today and the boys appreciated her presence and advice during the series of matches.
